Twin Air Source System Major East Sussex Refurb

• 2 x 13.5KW Stiebel-Eltron WPL25 three-phase air source heat pump
• 1 x 500l cylinder
• 1 x 400l heating buffer
• 1 x 300l accumulator
• UFH in extension and radiators in old house

This project was a major upgrade of a substantial, existing house with the addition of a large, modern extension.

The customer was determined not to have to rely on an oil boiler. Luckily the house had a three-phase electricity supply allowing us to  install two Stiebel-Eltron WPL25 three-phase air source heat pumps to provide all the heating and hot water for the family. During the refurbishment, underfloor heating (UFH) was installed throughout the new part of the house and the radiators were upgraded in the old part of the house, all adding to the efficiency of the system.

The units were placed above the basement plant room and facing down the garden. Fencing and bushes were also installed to screen the air source heat pumps but even with two units running flat out they are hardly audible.

The customer also built a large, three-bay oak garage and we installed a large solar PV array on the roof helping offset the electricity costs of running a large house with car chargers and heat pumps.
